Smoke'em Poker
 |
Overview |
| |
|
| |
Smoke'em
Poker is a BeerWare
program that I wrote to simulate a weekend game of five-card draw
poker. You play against five opponents simulated by the computer.
The simple interface includes lots of options, statistics (including
a graph of winnings), auto-play mode, saveable games, and online
help. |

It started
as an Amiga
game, but I eventually sold out and ported it to Windows. |

Poker News |

|
| |
Smoke'em Poker is currently
at version 1.9 (released June 19, 1996).
Smoke'em Poker has turned
out to be very popular (the price is right, at least ;^), and
it has garnered a number of good reviews and a lot of welcome
feedback from users. In fact, the wish list is a mile long at
this point, and I hope to get back to it soon.
Version 2.0 is partly
designed, and will probably include the following new features:
- Internet play with
up to 5 real opponents (the computer will fill in the rest)
- More poker games (such
as stud poker)
- Sets of sounds for
each player (record your own, send'em to your friends)
If you have more ideas
for the next version, please let me know.

Smoke'em Poker requires
Windows 3.1, and runs fine on Windows 95/98/NT too.
(Haven't tried it on Windows 2000, but it should be OK.)

Smoke'em Poker was programmed
using Borland Delphi 1.0
(a Visual-Basic-like tool that uses Pascal underneath). The source
code is freely available
to anyone with an interest in:
- writing computer games
in Delphi
- writing poker games
in any language
This source code uses
several custom Delphi components, so it will not compile as is.
However, it should give you a good idea of what's going on under
the hood.

Feedback |

I enjoy hearing
from people who have downloaded Smoke'em Poker and played it.
I particularly like getting suggestions about how the game could
be improved and which new features you would like most (or least).
I can't promise that every request will make it into the game, but
when I get several people asking for the same thing, that helps
me make up my mind.
If you have suggestions or comments on Smoke'em Poker, please e-mail me. |
