Childcare dealMayor hails historical childcare deal for London Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, welcomed the publication of the Government's Ten Year Childcare Strategy today. As part of the Ten Year Strategy the Mayor will be working with the Department for Education and Skills and the London Development Agency to establish a childcare affordability programme for lower income families in London. ChristmasFrom 4 December until Christmas Eve there will be a programme of Christmas carol-singing in Trafalgar Square, against the backdrop of the traditional Norwegian Christmas Tree. The singers taking part will be raising money for good causes. |

EnvironmentThe Mayor has launched this year's London Schools Environment Awards. Open to all London's primary schools, the awards aim to develop children’s sense of responsibility for their environment and reward schools for including environmental issues in the curriculum. |
