ÁREAS PRIORITÁRIAS PARA CONSERVAÇÃO DA BIODIVERSIDADE DA MATA ATLÂNTICA DO NORDESTE

Botany

The Botany group identified 64 priority areas.

The major ones are in Southern Bahia, associated with the large remaining blocks of Atlantic Forest, where recent studies found some of the highest tree diversities in the world - over 450 species per hectare. Also highlighted were the isolated humid forests enclaves in the semiarid interior, and the fragmented coastal forests from Alagoas to Paraiba.
