A couple of observations while changing some parts on my GP760

After working on too many engines this winter I'm finishing up my own. You never know what you're going to find.

This is what cavitation does to an impeller. That didn't get that way from sucking sand - that's hot air that burned it that way. I replaced it with a $olas piece.

What the heck is that thing in this photo? I felt something rough on this new piston ring. It wouldn't come off. It may be a sort of chrome spray that's stuck to the rings edge - within the black circle in the right photo. The manufacturer replaced it without question. I took this picture while holding a 10X jewelers loupe in front of my video camera so it could be seen better.
