Security issue taken for a spin
SJR Opinion: "How much credit should the governor get for solving a problem he created?"
(State Journal Register) -- WE'RE ALWAYS willing to give credit where it is due, and in that spirit we applaud Gov. Rod Blagojevich's announcement Thursday of plans for reduction and reform in the state's Executive Protection Unit.

But we'd be less than forthright if we did not also note that we take the governor's announcement with a grain of salt the size of the Thompson Center. For the sake of reference, the Thompson Center is 332 feet tall and 1,193,163 square feet inside.

WE FEEL this way because Blagojevich's mea culpa has more the feel of a last resort than a sincere admission of error.
