Contact Me

My preferred method of communication is instant messaging (IM). I use Jabber for all my IM needs, if you use ICQ, MSN, AIM or Yahoo, you should probably consider finding a Jabber server with transports for the one(s) you use. A list of public Jabber servers can be found at the JSF's web site.

Of course if you are in Australia, you can choose between two local servers, jabber.org.au (JOA) and jabber.zim.net.au (JZNA).

JOA is undoubtedly the faster of the two but it doesn't carry any transports. JZNA has transports for AIM, MSN, ICQ and Yahoo messengers, and even has live weather updates which display right there in your Jabber client (to be fair, I am an admin of JZNA, so of course I like it.)

And of course if you ask nicely, I can tell you how it's possible to use JZNA's transport set while still being connected only to JOA's faster server. This is all part of the power of Jabber. :-)

My Jabber ID is trejkaz@jabber.xaoza.net. If clicking on the link actually works, I'm outright surprised and I want you to tell me which client you use. :-)

I use the transports on my server to gain access to my friends on other IM networks who don't understand yet. However there's no point in you getting my other addresses for other networks because I might get rid of them any day now.

Even if you use Trillian or similar to gain access to your different IM accounts, I would still advise you to check out Jabber. Even on Windows, you have a choice of about 6 different clients, all with their individual strong points (at the time of writing this, I run Psi, because its cross-platform ability allows me to use the same client on the three computers I use for workstations.)

Even Trillian has a Jabber plugin now, as do Miranda and GAIM. Of course unlike Trillian, Miranda and GAIM are both free software.

If you have no access to any form of instant messaging, you can fall back to email.

My email address is trejkaz@xaoza.net. (I'm fully aware that spammers will find this address, but spam filtering software now achieves something like 5999 in 6000 accuracy, so things aren't so bad.

If you are paranoid, or you need to discuss topics of a sensitive nature, it's sensible to use GnuPG, the free reincarnation of PGP.

My public key is available here:

26CF 8621 223F 3916 8872 65C5 9A27 F3C0 130F C71A

I use this key for email, and also for Jabber, thanks to the awesome power of Psi!

If you aren't getting a response via either of these, I'm probably on holidays. Hey, everybody needs a vacation from time to time. After all, a holiday is as good as a change... but without the usual agony associated with change.
