PSAC union staff end strike

OTTAWA - Staff of the Public Service Alliance of Canada returned to work Tuesday morning after a one-week strike.

On Monday afternoon, they ratified a tentative agreement worked out over the weekend.

The 172 staff members are employees of the big national union, the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

They walked out over contract issues affecting retiree medical benefits and hours of work.

Under the new collective agreement PSAC staff will receive a 2.25 per cent wage increase this year and next, as well as a 2.5 per cent hike in 2006.
