Morning Gas
Community News | 12/7/2004 | 6:00 PST - Pappy-R
I've gotten some notes about my new pup, so I thought I'd just post that the little darlin' is right at home here in The Bunker and spends a good chunk of her day curled under my feet as I work. As a matter of fact that's where she is right now. So thanks for all the mails and kind words, Soleil and I should have a little Quake Christmas present for you around the holidays. (Hint, she's already comfy on a computer!)

The beat goes on and so does the special "prize round" of the movie quotes. Four weeks of point gathering could net you some swag for the new year so keep naming those flicks! Yesterday's quote from "Hannibal" confused a few, but not many went wrong. First in for three phat ones is CybrVillain while D14p3rW4r scoops two for Second and Richard Beard covets the final point and Third. GG all!

Movie Quote: "I was just wondering if you wanted to chase this tornado, or if you guys just wanted to catch the next one." Name that flick!

Community Buzz: An Interview With PBBans
Quake III Arena News | 12/6/2004 | 6:13 PST - Jube
Over on WarLeagues, WikingTOR grills the staff of PBBans to find out all about their volunteer cheat busting service. PBBans supports all PunkBuster supported games and is a community for server administrators to share information, submit their bans and stop online gaming cheaters.

WikingTOR: I am sure you guys hear a lot of explanations when someone is busted, what is the best excuse/explanation you ever heard?

The standard older/younger brother excuse is pretty much old hat you think of an excuse and we have heard it. The 2 latest ones were "I joined a server running a custom map and had downloads enabled, that's how the hack got on my pc". The other was telling us that he had clicked a web-link for a better ready made cfg and it contained an aimbot, of course when we checked the link and downloaded a "better cfg" there was no aimbot attached. Probably one of the more unusual ones was that it was not a cheat for a game that PB detected, but a cheat for online poker that the player happened to be running! So I guess he was saying, "I cheat at poker, but not SOF2". LOL. Even Balance investigated this one for us, and needless to say that ban stayed.
Read the interview.

Movie Quote: "On a similar note I must confess to you, I'm giving very serious thought ...to eating your wife." Name that flick!

There's a bow-wow in the Bunker! The puppy came home without incident and is getting used to her new home and her new people. Yes, her people and house. She owns us all and after all she went through yesterday, she also slept through the night without a peep! This is an impressive first for me and I was completely prepared to stay up with her all night. OK, no more puppy talk in here for a while, I promise. It's time to lay it all out for a week of quotes anyway. (Puppy! Oooops, sorry.)

Yesterday's quote, and final for the week was dead easy. I mean c'mon, "Rain Man", geez! First in was dunderhead61 with Jere on his heels for Second with Chris Hutto taking the final point for third. GG all! The week was a real treat with a tie in both First and Third place. Kool schtuff. So here's how the week worked out for the top slots, and did I mention tomorrow not only starts a new week, but a round of the quotes for booty? That's right, swag! More on that tomorrow, so be here or be...somewhere else a whole lot less funked up.

  • D14p3rW4r: 8 Tie forFirst!
  • dunderhead61: 8 Tie for First!
  • CybrVillain: 6 Second!
  • Jack Rich: 3 Tie forThird!
  • Pusher: 3 Tie for Third!
