Pages of pratfalls fill these 'Diaries'
If there had not been a Princess Diaries, no one could
have passed off the absurdities of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal
Engagement and expected more than a shrug at the box office. But there was a Princess Diaries. And it is a tribute to
the appeal of that classic Cinderella story about an awkward
American girl who becomes a princess that the sequel fared as well as it
did.
