Seminar on the "Therapeutic treatment of men perpetrators of violence within the family"
Strasbourg, 18-19 November 2004

This seminar is organised in the context of the implementation of Recommendation Rec(2002)5 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the protection of women against violence and constitutes a follow-up to the seminar organised in June 2003 on "Measures dealing with men perpetrators of domestic violence". It will regroup specialists in the therapeutic treatment of violent men and aims to improve the exchange of information in view of assessing the different methods in use in several member states.

31st meeting of the Steering Committee for Equality between Women and Men (CDEG)
Strasbourg, 24-26 November 2004

Gender equality means an equal visibility, empowerment and participation of both sexes in all spheres of public and private life. Gender equality is the opposite of gender inequality, not of gender difference.

This site has been set up to provide information on all the Council of Europe’s activities in the field of equality between women and men at intergovernmental level.

Since 1979, the Organisation has been promoting European co-operation to achieve real equality between the sexes. It possesses a wealth of information on subjects such as violence against women, trafficking in human beings, gender mainstreaming, positive action, balanced participation in decision-making, national machinery for equality, men and gender equality.

The site explains what kind of work is carried out and gives direct access to a number of publications and studies.
