The start finish line was moved this year to Carnaughlis and the race was a ten lap event . Entries at 87 were down on the previous year but were more evenly spread across the classes, they were started in pairs at ten second intervals . The pre race tension was broke just before racing was due to start when the band stand collapsed . This probably resulted in some poor starts due to the riders laughing so much that they couldn't push start their bikes . The timekeepers were in trouble again when some confusing results were posted after the first lap .

The 250 cc class was won by Jock Porter on a New Gerrard . He took 3 hours 27 minutes and 47 seconds to complete the 205 miles (328 km) . Just over nine minutes later Diamond mounted J. Forsythe appeared at the line to claim second place .

The 350 cc class was won by Fred Andrews on a New Imperial . He took 3 hours 26 minutes and 25 seconds to complete the race . W. Andrews arrived home just over nine minutes later to claim second place . Cotton mounted Tommy Stuart took almost 12 minutes to appear after W. Andrews finished .

Joe Craig 499 Norton

The 600 cc race was led for most of the time by Alec Bennett . On the last lap, part way along the seven mile straight he ran out of petrol and Joe Craig moved into the lead . He went on to win the race . Bennett meanwhile had scrounged some petrol from a spectator and came in to claim second place but was disqualified when he reported what had happened . This then left Rives Shillington in second place with a race time of 3 hours 19 minutes and 32 seconds, over 18 minutes behind Craig .

The Unlimited class was won by Stanley Woods on a 1000 cc New Imperial . He had bother with a leaking petrol tank for most of the race, but managed to set a new lap record despite this . However his race average was almost 2 mph (3.2 km/h) slower than the 250 cc class . He took 3 hours 33 minutes and 45 seconds to complete the ten laps . The only other finisher in the class was R. Price on a Coventry Eagle, he was nearly 51 minutes behind Woods .
