Actor Josh Brolin was arrested yesterday in Los Angeles on a charge of spousal battery after an argument with his wife, actress Diane Lane.
The son of actor James Brolin was booked in West Los Angeles after cops responded to a call from Lane at the newlyweds' home, LAPD Officer Grace Brady said.
Brolin, 36, posted $20,000 bail and was released after being fingerprinted and posing for a mug shot, said Kelly Bush, the couple's spokeswoman.
"There was a misunderstanding at their home" yesterday, Bush told the Daily News. "Diane called the police. Josh ended up being arrested for the lowest-end misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
"Diane did not want to press charges and asked them not to arrest him, but in cases involving the possibility of any physical contact, the police have to arrest first, ask questions later. They are home together and are embarrassed the matter went this far," Bush said.
A friend of the couple added, "There were no physical injuries."
Lane, who was nominated for an Oscar for "Unfaithful," married the 6-foot Brolin last August in a quiet ceremony on his 97-acre ranch north of L.A.
Brolin, the star of TV's "Mr. Sterling" and the stepson of actress Barbra Streisand, told People magazine last year that his relationship with Lane, 39, felt "right, really right."
He was previously married to Deborah Adair, with whom he has a son, Trevor, 16, and a daughter, Eden, 11.
Lane has a daughter, Eleanor, 10, with her ex-husband, actor Christopher Lambert.
