24 hours with Jasmine Trias
By Tim Yap
Inquirer News Service

AN IDOL everywhere

WITH HER transpacific charms, Jasmine Trias has mesmerized the whole nation. From the sun-drenched shores of Hawaii to the hills of Hollywood to the 7,107 islands of the Philippines, flower power owes its resurgence to the enchanting powers of Jasmine Trias.

Jasmania in Manila has started the minute she set foot on the "American Idol" stage, subject to the vitriol of Simon, Randy and Paula. Now pitching a whole slew of products from floral shirts to french fries, Jasmine is barely taking five from her first major concert to be staged tonight at the Araneta Coliseum.

We stalked Jasmine Trias from Singapore to Manila, followed her from Mc Donald's in South Super to her Bench autograph signing spree in SM Megamall like a deranged fan hit with some Jasmanic fever.

Here, she takes time out to sign our guest book while munching on her Jasmine Trio.

The thing about fame is: it's not all glamorous as it seems, but it's all worth it.

The thing I love most about what I do is: that I get the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people and it's a dream come true for me.

People might be surprised to know that: I need at least 10 hours of sleep a day

The most important thing I've ever learned is: that you need to stay true to yourself and be a strong person.

I wish when I started off I'd been told that: it would be a lot of hard work. So I learned a lot of patience along the way.

The worst thing that ever happened to me was: that I lost my shoe on stage during a concert. So I had on one shoe when I was performing.

And what this taught me was: to strap your shoes on tighter.

The happiest moment of my life was: stepping on to the American Idol stage for the first time.

The secret to happiness is: knowing what you want in life, pursuing it, and then enjoying it.

My best ever outfit consisted of: a pinkish bronzy Karen Millen beaded top with olive green rouged capris with nude pink Karen Millen shoes and a chain belt with a flower in my ear.

My Super Saturday night consists of: dancing and having a good time at a night club.

The soundtrack to my life would include: "Love Ko 'To"

If I was invisible for a day, I would: Go shopping to a mall by myself. Privacy is such a luxury now!

The thing that makes me most angry is: No sleep

If I was the most powerful person on earth: I would make sure that there was no poverty and that everyone would be living happily ever after.

The best thing about family is: that they're always there for you no matter what happens and they'll always love you no matter what.

When I'm gone, they'll probably say: that I was a good person and that I love what I do.

If money was no option: I would still be doing what I'm doing: being a singer, a performer, an entertainer

When I retire, I would like: To live in a big house with my family in Hawaii.

The world would be a much better place if: there was no poverty and no war.

My hero is: Alicia Keys

The thing that makes my life worth living is: that I get to do what I love to do.

My greatest hope for the future is: that I want to have a long successful career and be the happiest that I've ever been.
