In June 2002, the Arizona Department of Transportation and Pulice Construction began the construction of "The Crossing" - the new Interstate 10 / Interstate 19 Traffic Interchange. This $54.3 million project will take about 26 months to complete.
Dear Citizens of Southern Arizona,
"The Crossing", the new Traffic Interchange at Interstate 10 and Interstate 19, is one of the largest highway improvement projects undertaken by the Arizona Department of Transportation in southern Arizona during the past decade. It's a much needed improvement and a major project in the on-going rehabilitation of Interstate 10 through the Tucson area.
Building "The Crossing" also entails reconstruction of adjacent portions of I-10 and I-19 as well as some city streets in the area. The project will likely take a little more than two years to complete and will, at times, be disruptive to the normal flow of traffic. We will be doing our best to minimize noise, dust, and traffic delays, but like any major construction project, we won't be able to eliminate these entirely.
We want to ask you for and thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while we work to make your freeways more convenient, smoother, and safer. If we all work together, "The Crossing" will be completed on time, on budget and with the least possible impact to all our lives. Thank you.
