Friday Frip-Frappery

Last night I went to an opening at this place called Gallery C in Hermosa Beach. It's an old movie theater they'd converted into a huge, beautiful gallery space, and their receptions are always packed and crazy. Another crazy thing is that they built a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf right next to it, and it's like 20 ft away from a Starbucks right across the street. It's not even a street, it's more like a driveway. Pretty soon they're going to start putting Starbucks inside other Starbucks. You heard it first here. Anyway, the show is called California New Old Masters, meaning contemporary artists working in the highly realistic and refined figurative style of the Renaissance Old Masters. There were some incredible paintings there, I must say--worth the trip. I wish I'd made note of some of the artists' names; I thought they'd have it on the website, but they don't.

Now something amusing I got from a friend at work:
"How Smart is Your Right Foot?
This is so funny that it will boggle your mind. And you will keep trying at least 50 more times to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't.
1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in the  air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.
I told you so ..........   And there's nothing you can do about it!"

5 minutes later: So of course Jerry, my sister's boyfriend with the engineering degree, writes back and says, "try drawing the 6 from the inside loop." Damn scientific, logical minds...

Parting shot: Sent to me by Jerome, my co-worker. This is like beyond cute and weird. And look at his little wee-wee!
