The fines; they are a changing...

Beginning on Sept. 2, 2003 the fines for videos and DVDs will increase from 2.00 to 2.25. This also includes the fines for non-fiction videos and DVDs. Before you begin to think this is unfair remember that Green Hills does not charge you for the initial checkout of videos and DVDs like some libraries, which might have been an alternative to the fine increase.

"It's me Mario!!"

That's right Mario and the rest of his Gamecube buddies are here at the library. Listening to your suggestions we have now expanded our video game collection with Gamecube games.

Sorry about not having a full list this time but off of the top of my head here are some of the titles:

The Legend of Zelda: The Windwalker
    Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee
    Luigi's Mansion

There are more games than that.. Believe me.. So enjoy and remember if you have any more suggestions let us know by putting them in the suggestion box located at the circulation desk.

"Hot Picks" are here catch them if you can.

You'll now notice when you walk into the library a display with your favorite best selling authors. Why are these books here? You may ask. Simple, they are part of the "hot picks" selection.

What exactly is a "hot pick"?

A "hot pick" is a very popular book that can be checked out on a first come first served basis. It may only be checked out for a one-week period and cannot be renewed. Plus, the overdue fines are a little heftier coming in at .25 a day instead of the usual .10 a day fine.

Since starting the "hot picks" program a little over a week ago it has been very successful and hope to see an even greater interest. So the next time you are in stop by and let the reference staff know how much you are enjoying the "hot picks" program.

The; Power of the X-Box unleashed at your Library.

The Library has listened to your demands and has purchased a number of games for the xbox console. Parents for your information on the lower left hand corner of the game's package there will be a box with either an E, T or M. Basically, what these letters do is guage who the game is appropriate for:

(E)-Everyone: This game can be played and enjoyed by everyone of all ages.

(T)-Teen: This game is intended for teens the content may be something innappropriate for a younger child.

(M)-Mature: This game is intended more for adults the content is probably innappropriate for a young child either due to graphic violence or language.
Parents if you do not want your child to be able to checkout any of the T or M rated games you can let the circulation desk know and they will be able to restrict your child's card. With that said, here are the titles that the library has purchased and will be available shortly for checkout:

There is a new look for the circulation desk.

When you now walk into the library you will notice that the computers at the circulation desk have been changed. We've embraced new technology and flat screen monitors have been purchased and installed. Why you ask? Simple; these new flat screens take up less space compared to the bulkier monitors we previously had. Secondly, you'll notice that the monitors are on a swivel now so when you are told you owe x amount of money or that such and such book was not returned we can swivel the monitor so that you can see it.
