The sequel to Cyberdogs. DOS game for one or two players. Supports joysticks and most soundcards (for DOS).
Includes a rather crude campaign editor.

Known bugs:

For some reason Options settings may be weird initially, with the following two problems occurring quite frequently:

If you die immediately upon starting a game, go into Options and change the Player hp setting (change, change back).
If the game runs very slowly, go into Options and change the Slow motion setting.

You should only need to do this once. Sorry about that.

Note:

If you are planning to use the campaign editor, read the notes on the editor. I'm getting tired of answering email-questions when the answers can be found right here. Now the notes are on a separate page so you can print it or something. Yes, the documentation (what?) of the editor stinks. Would you rather I hadn't released it?

No arrow keys?

For those of you who lack arrow keys and joystick and are thus stuck on the menus, here is a configuration file with remapped keys. Player one controls - which can also be used in menus - are configured as:

Left O
Right P
Up Q
Down A
Button 1 Left Ctrl
Button 2 Alt

Since the controls are completely configurable you are, of course, able to change this to whatever suits you once you are able to get the menus working. Put this file in your C-Dogs directory and start the game.
Note: all other options are set for my system, you may want to change these. These settings do NOT affect your soundcard setup (but do affect game options such as volume, sound channels etc).

I've decided to release the C-Dogs source publically. Do with it what you wish, but please bear in mind that the graphics are still mine.

December 10th 1999

Added Tim McEvoy's lovely pic.

July 30th 1999

C-Dogs 1.06:
1.05 was broken. In a mission with a limited number of computer characters it would crash when there were no computer characters left. Sorry.
No other changes.

July 5th 1999

C-Dogs 1.05:
Doors are now color-coded on the automap. Keys show up too.
New game options: Density, non-player and player hp adjustments.
The difficulty setting now only controls enemy behaviour.
Bug-fixes:
Characters now take damage while they are inside a gas cloud.
Prisoners are no longer frozen in place before they are rescued.
You can now switch weapons even if you are moving (eg being shot at)
Health bonus is now only given if you lose less than 50 hp.
Debug-logs removed (1.04 had this I think).

A bunch of user campaigns have been added to the campaigns page.

June 23rd 1999

It's been a while. Finally got around to setting up the campaigns page. Don't get too excited though, there's only the B.A.D. campaign at the moment. Sorry.

November 24th 1998

Finally got around to uploading new 1.04 executables. I'm assuming my (notoriously flaky) floppy drive did a number on them last time I uploaded. The two new campaigns are also included in the update archive. Please note that you will need to have 1.03 installed first.

Since I haven't mentioned it elsewhere, 1.04 fixes a crash bug with custom missions if you attempt to make use of the maximum number of characters in any one mission. It also greatly improves campaign selection if there are more campaigns than will fit on the screen. If you have a valid password the Start campaign screen will default to Enter password. Wrap-around for most menus now.

October 27th 1998

C-Dogs v1.04. Two new campaigns. Note that all three campaigns are included in cdogs.zip.

September 3rd 1998

Somewhat late I have finally put up C-Dogs 1.03. This version features five levels of difficulty (governing how much health players and non-players have as well as the "AI"s aggressiveness. Also has a slow-motion mode (half the speed) for those who find the pace too hectic. This version was created for my mother's birthday by the way.

July 28th 1998

Added a link. Zipped the B.A.D campaign as quite a few people have problems downloading files that aren't text, executables or archives. Bad browser if you ask me...
Oh, the density bug is not fixed in 1.02...will be in 1.03.

June 22nd 1998

Updated editor notes. It's sort of an FAQ so I add bits whenever I get a question that should be covered.
Credit where credit is due: thanks to Ken Gorley and Adrian Stacey for helping me find the vertical sync
problem (fixed in 1.02) that proved to be a major show-stopper on some hardware.

May 26th 1998

Updated cdogs.exe and cdogsed.exe to 1.02.
Changes:
Password every level
Slide-bug with flamer fixed.
Never take damage from own shots (grenades and such are a different matter!)
Vertical sync problem fixed.
(not sure about the Density bug, it may be fixed but I don't recall)
Updated editor notes.

April 9th 1998

Added the B.A.D-campaign (terror.cpn).
Updated editor notes about a bug found.

March 20th 1998

Added graphics and a link back to main page. Links moved to a separate links page.
