Amos 'n' Andy -- The First Decade

Presented here are summaries of each nightly episode of "Amos 'n' Andy," from the premiere of the series on March 19, 1928 to the end of Pepsodent sponsorship on December 31, 1937. The 2751 episodes broadcast over this decade defined the series and its characters, and established the program's place in broadcasting history.

Summaries were prepared from microfilm copies of the original broadcast scripts, in the author's collection, and are intended to give the flavor of the plot and character development thru the years.  Where it has been possible to determine from scripts, surviving recordings, or other sources the identity of the performer portraying a given character, that performer is identified by initials at the time of the character's first on-mike appearance:

FFG - Freeman F. Gosden

CJC - Charles J. Correll

EH -- Elinor Harriot (1935-37)
