Our People

Under our recruitment policy, the firm seeks staff, law students, and lawyers and makes hiring decisions without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, disability, or veteran status. DLA Piper has adopted as part of its strategic plan the goal of improving the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women and minority lawyers at the firm and is vigorously pursuing that objective.

Among our 2005 recruiting efforts:

  • This fall we will conduct interviews at the Chicago Cook County Bar Association/Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms Minority Student Job Fair, DuPont Minority Job Fair, Harvard BLSA Job Fair, Howard University School of Law, Sunbelt Minority Recruitment Program and the Mid-Atlantic BLSA Job Fair.
  • In March, our firm participated in the 21th Annual Harvard BLSA Spring Conference and the Tenth National Asian Pacific American Conference on Law and Public Policy in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • In January and February, our attorneys participated as panelists at the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms 2004 "Tips for Law Students from Minority Attorneys." The "Road Shows" included the following law schools: Georgetown University Law Center, Howard University School of Law, University of Illinois College of Law, the University of Michigan Law School, the University of Iowa College of Law, and the University of Notre Dame. An additional program was hosted in Chicago for law students in attendance at the University of Chicago Law School, John Marshall Law School, Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and Northwestern University School of Law.
  • Last December, the firm attended the Harvard Black Law Students Association 1L Career Fair.
