Headteacher: Mr Bill Aylett Latest Ofsted Report

Montgomery School is a Primary School for children from 4+ to 11 situated in Hohne Garrison, in close proximity to Gloucester Secondary School.  There is one other Primary school in the vicinity, Slim School in Bergen.  This school is also responsible for education of 3 year olds at the Princess of Wales Foundation Stage (FS) 1 Pre-school.

Montgomery School is the 'normal' school for children who are quartered either in Hohne Garrison or certain roads in Bergen.  In some cases, it may be possible for parents to exercise their preference of school choosing Montgomery or Slim, although this option is restricted by the available space in the preferred school.

The school was built in 1957 and is a traditional single storey building.  Within are 14 classrooms and two halls, plus a library.  There is a playing field on the school site and there are three large playing fields. Squash, tennis, riding and swimming are readily available and skiing in the winter months is available in the Hartz mountains some 120 km south of Hohne.

Each week the school is visited by teachers from the Gloucester Music Centre who are able to offer tuition in a range of musical instruments.  Children are also invited to a Saturday morning session at the Music Centre for the opportunities of ensemble playing and general musicianship.

There are approximately 250 primary aged pupils on roll together with 12 teaching staff and other support staff.

School starts at 09:00 and finishes for lunch at 12:15.  The afternoon begins at 13:15 and finishes at 14:50 for Key Stage 1 children and 15:25 for Key Stage 2 children.  There is a morning break each day at 10:30, plus an afternoon break at 14:15 for Key Stage 2 children.

The surrounding countryside is flat to rolling heathland (the Luneburg Heath) with an abundance of pine trees. Besides being a NATO training area the area is famous for its wide expanse of heather which blooms in the late summer. The towns of Celle, Hannover, Bremen and Hamburg are all within an easy drive of the school.
