The CIAC Beak Database - Version 1.0

Data provided by Dr. Louise Allcock and Dr. Malcolm Clarke

The Beak Database is the product of a workshop entitled Estimating Cephalopod Biomass that was convened by Malcolm Clarke and Louise Allcock at the CIAC 2000 symposium: Cephalopod Biomass and Production. This is an altruistic project and many researchers have submitted their data willingly. All the data are attributed, in the database, to the researcher that submitted them. If you use data from the database in publications please acknowledge either the Beak Database, or the researchers who originally provided the data. The Beak Database is an ongoing project so please consider submitting your data (see links below). Researchers struggling with beak identification may wish to know that The Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London SW7 5BD, UK holds Malcolm Clarke's beak collection. Malcolm also passed collections of rostons to the Smithsonian, Tokyo, Melbourne, Santa Barbara and South African Museums and would like to encourage people to put their own rostons into local museums.
