Clarias cavernicola

The endemic cave catfish Clarias cavernicola. The population was estimated to consist of about 150 individuals, all restricted to a single cave. A number of unsuccessful attempts were made by fish specialists to to breed the species in captivity. Thus, like other aquatic species endemic to single Namibian caves, the species is vulnerable to disturbance and pollution.
