WEBSITE PRIVACY POLICY

The ATHENS 2004 Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHENS 2004) respects your privacy and seeks to protect your personal data. The protection of the personal information is subject to the provisions of the Greek Data Protection Law Ν 2472/97 We've taken the time to further explain below what our policy means for you, the user.

Information Collected
ATHENS 2004 collects two types of information about users: personal information (e.g. name, birth date, address, e-mail) and aggregate information (such as information about how many users log on to our site) on a daily basis.

Personal Information
ATHENS 2004 will not collect any personal information (PI) unless you provide it to us voluntarily. You will be asked to provide PI if you wish to use certain pages of our site, indicatively but not limited to the pages described below:

bullet Volunteers: We collect online applications containing PI of users interested in volunteer assignments with ATHENS 2004.
bullet Pre-Games Training Guide: We collect PI from users (athletes, teams etc.) who wish to take part in the pre-games training programme
bullet Tickets: We collect PI from users who wish to submit a ticket request application.
bullet IOC World Congress on Sport Science: We collect PI from users wishing to attend the 7th IOC World Congress, book accommodation or submit their research abstract.
bullet Newsletter: We collect PI from users wishing to receive our newsletter and/or other periodic information.
bullet Test Events: We collect PI from users (athletes) wishing to take part in the Test Events and book accommodation.

ATHENS 2004 uses personal information you provide online to contact you. Furthermore, ATHENS 2004 may share this information with Third Parties. Neither ATHENS 2004 nor any of these third parties will sell, rent, lease, license or otherwise disseminate your PI without your permission. In addition, you should note that a third party provides Internet operations for this Site. The provider does not collect PI through the Site, but may collect non-personal identifiable information. A different third party provides content for the Site, which also does not collect PI.

The ATHENS 2004 ticket request application forms require you to give us PI and also financial information (like your account or credit card numbers). Your contact information is used to contact you when necessary in connection with ticketing transactions entered into by you on the ATHENS 2004 site. Your contact information will be passed on to a successor in the event of bankruptcy, receivership or other transfer of ownership. Financial information that is collected is used to check your qualifications and bill you for products and services. ATHENS 2004 will not share financial information with third parties without your prior consent. When you make a purchase on the Site, your consent is given to provide your financial or contact information to those third parties necessary to process your transactions with us, such as credit card companies and the companies that handle shipping on behalf of ATHENS 2004.

Aggregate Information
ATHENS 2004 also collects aggregate information automatically for the purposes of system administration, for statistical reasons in order to evaluate our users' preferences and improve our site, and for broad demographic purposes as related to the ticket application. Examples of aggregate information include:

bullet Type of browser: we collect aggregate information on the browser versions that visitors to our site use including edition etc. This allows us to adjust our content to our users needs.
bullet Operating system: we collect information on what operating system our visitors use to make sure our content is available to the most users.
bullet Internet Protocol Addresses (IP): An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you surf the web. The computers that deliver the web pages to you automatically identify your computer by its IP address.

Use of cookies
A cookie is a small data file that enables web servers to "identify" visitors. When you visit a web site that uses cookie technology, the site adds a cookie to your browser that includes an identifying number, which is then stored on your hard drive. ATHENS 2004 uses cookies to keep track of the tickets you have purchased, to deliver content specific to your interests, to save your password so you do not have to re-enter it each time you visit the ATHENS 2004 Site, and for other purposes relating to your ticketing transactions on the Site. ATHENS 2004 reserves the right to use cookies for other purposes in the future. Any changes with regard to this issue will be posted on these pages.

Sites Hosted by Third Parties
This ATHENS 2004 Website Privacy Policy (the "ATHENS 2004 Privacy Policy") applies only to information collected or submitted on this Site. The Site contains links to certain websites which are hosted by third party providers or other third parties and which are not subject to this ATHENS 2004 Privacy Policy or to other ATHENS 2004 Policies.

Some of those websites may have an interface that may appear similar to that used by ATHENS 2004. Those websites may send cookies to you and solicit or collect information from you. We take precautions to protect the security of your information. All of your information is restricted in our offices. Only ATHENS 2004 staff who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to PI. Our staff must enter passwords to access this information. Further, the servers on which we store PI are kept in a secure facility. This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under ATHENS 2004 control. ATHENS 2004 secure server software (SSL) is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

Notification of Changes
If we change this ATHENS 2004 Privacy Policy, we will post the changes on this page. We remind you that you are subject to our providers' policies when you are on our providers' websites. Though we will not provide notice of changes to any of our providers' policies, we encourage you to review those policies regularly.

When We May Disclose Your Information
