THE NEW THOUGHT POLICE:  ORWELL’S “1984” IS UPON US

While I probably don’t agree with many of her political positions, Tammy Bruce is a lesbian feminist activist I respect.  I recently received her book, “The New Thought Police, Inside the Left’s Assault on Free Speech and Free Minds” as a gift.  I read it voraciously since it anecdotally confirmed the liberal bias of the left and their willing comrades in the media.  Further, Bruce demonstrates how the left stifles expression of opinions other than its own.  A prime example is her experience as the president of the Los Angeles NOW chapter.  Of particular interest is how the gay and lesbian fascists drove Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s television program from the airwaves with lies and political terrorism.

I can go on all day about the liberal control of the media (and I do) but it seems to be much more credible coming from someone who was in the middle of it.  The ruthlessness of the left and its hidden agenda is laid bare at last.  Free speech, the exercise of which seems to mean the left is free to speak whatever its chooses, even when untrue.  All other viewpoints are “hurtful” and “insensitive” and need to be silenced or punished.

The definitive importance of Ms. Bruce’s writing came when a very liberal friend of mine who gave me this book after reading it himself, emailed me to apologize.  He had actively participated in the vicious “Stop Dr. Laura” movement, despite my protestations that he was misinformed.  I was delighted, not only for the “I told you so” opportunity, but much more so because such enlightenment is my 24/7 mission.

I maintain that when unvarnished facts are presented, and logic is employed, reasonable conclusions can be reached.  Of course I believe that under these circumstances a conservative viewpoint will be formed.
