Call to Arms!
The Galactic Civil War reaches a new level of intensity as players struggle to gain and maintain control of cities throughout Star Wars Galaxies. This week's upcoming SWG publish will allow factions to raid and take over cities, changing their look and feel and strategic positioning. Iconic Star Wars leaders of both sides will implore their supporters to join in the fight.
Cities previously known as Rebel strongholds will risk being overrun by the arm of the Empire. And complacent Imperials could see the Rebel insignia flying over their town in an instant.
Also this week, players gain access to some very cool Player Event Tools. They'll now be able to use droids to set up their own large-scale in-game events, like scavenger hunts, lotteries and the ever popular swoop bike races! Also, to spice things up, players will be able to rent NPC "actors" to add some real talent and variety to their events.
Star Wars Galaxies is increasing the fun factor with each and every publish! Jump in and see what the buzz is all about!

SWG Studio Update
Star Wars Galaxies studio manager Gordon Walton offers his latest Studio Update. Most notable is the creation of "strike teams" within the Austin studio. These teams will deal with content, infrastructure, combat upgrades, GUI, Events, Quality Assurance, community, customer service, live issues, and there's a "secret team" tackling ... well, we can't tell you. Good News for Aspiring Game Designers!
Sony Online Entertainment creative guru Raph Koster's book, "A Theory of Fun for Game Design", has just been published. It evolved from Raph's 2003 talk at the Austin Game Conference. The book addresses such essential design subjects as "what makes a game fun"; "whether games can be art"; and, above all, "why games matter."
