George Heller was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Hudson's Bay Company in February 1999. He is responsible for overseeing the Company's operations including the main retail divisions: Zellers and the Bay.
A retail veteran, George has held senior positions in Canadian and international retailing for almost 30 years. The majority of these years were spent working with Hudson's Bay Company, starting with the Northern Stores Division and moving from there to positions with the Bay, Simpsons, Zellers, and Woodwards.
George was President and CEO of the very successful Victoria Commonwealth Games from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, he became President of Bata Industries Ltd. in North America and Europe before taking the position of President and CEO of Kmart in 1997.
George rejoined Hudson's Bay Company when he was appointed President and CEO of Zellers and Executive Vice President of Hudson's Bay Company, following Hudson's Bay Company's acquisition of Kmart in February 1998.
George is currently the President of the Commonwealth Games Foundation of Canada and has doctorates from The University of Victoria and RyersonUniversity.
