The National Recreation and Park Association recognizes outstanding programs and inspirational people who remind us daily of the outstanding work that is being done in parks and recreation to improve Americans' quality of life. Celebrate the impact that parks and recreation has on our nation by nominating someone you think exemplifies the best of the best.
NRPA award winners include
  • Parks and recreation professionals who have made a difference in the health, happiness, or heritage of a community across a number of years.
  • Volunteers or organizations that have made a lasting, positive impression on the face of their community or nation through parks or recreation programs.
  • Up-and-coming parks and recreation professionals who, in their short tenure in the industry, have made measurable advances within parks and recreation.
  • Media individuals or organizations whose work has inspired support for parks and recreation or expanded core knowledge of the industry.
  • Volunteers, organizations, corporations, or congressional members whose support for parks and recreation has advanced the NRPA mission to improve the quality of life of Americans and preserve the health, happiness, and heritage of our nation.
NRPA award winners are an inspiration to their profession and to the parks and recreation movement nationwide. Selected by the NRPA Board of Trustees National Awards Committee and renowned authorities in the area of parks, recreation, and leisure, winners are announced annually at the NRPA Congress & Exposition.
All nominators must be current NRPA members. Applications are eligible for up to three years, provided that the nominator updates the application, when appropriate, prior to April 1 of each year.

Dorothy Mullen Arts and Humanities Awards

The Dorothy Mullen Arts and Humanities Award program selects national winners from five population classes. The program aims not only to recognize those who demonstrate excellence in art and humanities, but also to inspire others who may be interested in developing similar programs.

Recognition of Significant Efforts (ROSE) Award
The NRPA R.O.S.E. Award (Recognition of Significant Efforts) recognizes individuals who have "gone the extra mile" to advance parks and recreation in their communities. The award advances parks and recreation by sharing with communities the successes of these individuals.
