The ancestral home of
Eugene Gladstone O'Neill 1888-1953,
The birthplace of his father,
James O'Neill 1845-1920,

According to the SOUTH LEINSTER IRISH CHRONICLES, (by A.J. Morris) "The County Wexford Baronies are seven in number, namely, Bantry, Ballahgkeen, Shelburne, Shelmalier, Scarawalsh, Forth, and Bargy.
Bargy is taken from the name of a tribe called the Ui Bairche, who dwelt in south Wexford. Some of the tribe also settled near New Ross, giving their name to Rosbercon. It is interesting to add that the family of Barrick (who had dropped the "O" of O'Barrick), were fairly numerous in New Ross as late as the second decade of the seventeenth century."
Rosbercon has an unusual pronouciation, sounding more like "Ros-BARRICK-can," thus the connection to the Barricks.
