Link 55 Extension Celebrated - Four Corners Now Connected to LYNX System

April 27, 2004

Orlando, FL - LYNX, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, will hold a ribbon cutting on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 10:00 am to celebrate the extension of Link 55. The event will be held at the Publix Shopping Center at Summer Bay, 17445 U.S. Highway 192, Clermont.

The extension of Link 55 includes an additional three miles on Hwy. 192. The service connects residents of "Four Corners" with shopping, entertainment and employment.  elebration, Water Mania, Old Town and Osceola Square Mall are just a few of the places residents can now get to. Previously, Link 55 ended at Secret Lake Drive on Hwy. 192. Extension of service began April 6 and completes the originally planned route for Link 55.

Link 55 brings an increasingly high residential area of Orange, Osceola, Lake and Polk Counties a new transportation option. Four Corners is unique because the county lines of Orange, Osceola, Polk and Lake counties meet. The extension of Link 55 is funded through Osceola County.

Osceola County Commissioner, Paul Spent is attending as well as Osceola County Commissioner and LYNX Vice-Chairman Atlee Mercer. Mercer will be our keynote speaker.

"As Osceola County continues to grow, transportation options such as this will compliment our roads," said Mercer. He continued, "The rapid residential growth in the four corners area of Osceola County make it vitally important to provide options like this to our residents."

Media is asked to attend.
