Announcing the Launch of Wraeththu from Enchantment to Fulfilment

The hour is finally upon us: we had to let go of this project at some point! The final proof of Wraeththu from Enchantment to Fulfilment has been accepted and very shortly it will be stocked by Esdevium Games Ltd., UK (www.esdeviumgames.com). Orders for the game can now be taken through normal distribution channels in the UK and Europe.
Wraeththu from Enchantment to Fulfilment, is set in Storm Constantine's rich and vibrant fantasy world, and offers an entrancing gaming experience. The game will appeal to both new and experienced gamers, and provides a unique look into Storm's dark vision of earth's future. The book itself details many aspects of the Wraeththu Mythos and provides details of the various established tribes, some of which are only hinted at in Storm's novels. It provides an excellent resource for both gamers and fans of the Wraeththu Mythos.
Storm Constantine's world challenges the role-player to come up with other solutions and directions, which can be absent from generic science fiction and fantasy games. The game takes place in a world which rewards the quick witted; those who throw the first punch may fall by the wayside. The Wraeththu RPG tackles aspects of culture and magic in an understandable way and sets off from the beginning to inform players upon every aspect of Storm's androgynous race.

Conventions: ConDFW IV Con Report

Last weekend, I attended ConDFW in Richardson, TX. While not exactly a gaming con (there was some scattered board and miniatures gaming, plus a few LARPs), I have to recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy/sci-fi books, which I imagine covers a large portion of gamers. There is a very laid-back feel to the con, which may be due in large part to the fact that the bar is right in the middle of the lobby, encouraging socializing between panels.
Gaming-related guests making an appearance included Bill Fawcett (co-founder of Mayfair Games), Wil Upchurch (currently with Steve Jackson Games), and P.N. Elrod (Ravenloft fiction and early Dungeon adventure designer). Other guests included authors Steven Brust, Robert Asprin, John Steakley, Jody Lynn Nye, and artists David Cherry and Brad Foster.
Small press publisher Yard Dog Press also had a strong presence at the con. The number of Yard Dog authors present became readily apparent Friday night at the “Yard Dog Press Traveling Road Show.” This was a series of readings, accompanied by “interpretive dance” (the dancers all turned out to be authors as well). Many of the readings were from the upcoming anthology, International House of Bubbas, the latest in the series which began with Bubbas of the Apocalypse. For the record, this series would provide an excellent humorous Deadworld for All Flesh Must Be Eaten, or possibly a setting for d20 Modern with Blood and Brains.
Another highlight of the weekend was David Cherry’s Artist Guest of Honor presentation, which included not only a retrospective of his work, but also a practical demonstration of how Photoshop can be used as a tool by artists working in traditional media.
Every panel I attended was enjoyable. Many were aimed at the aspiring writer, but there were quite a few directed purely toward fans.
Rounding out the mix were some more unusual bits, like the acoustic musical performance by editor Patrick Nielsen Hayden of Tor Books and author Steven Brust, and the unscheduled fencing that went on in the courtyard, allowing authors the chance to beat on Yard Dog editor Selina Rosen.
Photos of the con can be found here.
