Right from the beginning, our intention was to make this the most accurate portrayal of dinosaurs, and the animals they lived with, that has ever been on television or film. We consulted not just palaeontologists but also botanists, climatologists, geologists, anatomists, zoologists and experts, from every branch of science that could help build up a full picture of life in the Mesozoic era.
But science cannot always provide cast iron fact when it comes to understanding the world back then - in the series, as in science, museums and books, there is a degree of informed speculation.
If we didn't know how a creature behaved, then we endeavoured to find out the most likely option. This, we feel, does not make the programmes any less accurate. The articles in Science Focus are accounts of why we came to the conclusions we did.
