Arts and Sciences Center for Instructional Technology

Our Mission:
The Arts & Sciences Center for Instructional Technologies at the University of Virginia supports use of technology in teaching in the College of Arts and Sciences. This includes consultation with faculty on creative ways to enhance classroom instruction with technology. We also provide an extensive equipment loans service and are the home of the Language Laboratory, a digital facility delivering authentic resources for language learning and teaching.
ASCIT, in collaboration with the Instructional Technology Group of ITC, provides one-on-one and small group consultation, training and presentations on the use of technology in teaching to College faculty and teaching assistants. We support several easy-to-use web-based course tools, allowing students and instructors to manage course materials, share work, create web-based resources and activities, and get automatic feedback on essays, exercises, quizes and tests. ASCIT offers workshops and presentations and publishes a newsletter twice a year on how to use technology creatively. For more information, contact Rachel Saury.
ASCIT Equipment Loans provides audiovisual equipment and equipment supporting computer projection and display for classes, programs, and research within the Graduate School and College of the Arts & Sciences. Make reservations easily using our online form.
The Language Laboratory develops and supports technology-enhanced learning and teaching environments in second-language acquisition and in the study of foreign languages, literatures, and cultures. ASCIT provides audio/video tape duplication, American and international VHS video standards conversion (NTSC to PAL/SECAM), and digitizing. For more information see Steve West.
