the track : A dark and sinister take on the ambient/chill out genre. Metallic raindrops are falling from a rainy sky... You can definitely smell the atmosphere in this track as it evolves towards the end.

As typical with ambient, there's no beat whatsoever unlike a lot of other electronic genres, but that means ALOT of attention must be paid to the actual melodies and effects used in the track. It's fairly well taken care of in this track, however I strongly believe it's not the best in its genre.

the effects and melodies : Raindrops are falling... That's true, you can certainly hear some nicely crafted raindrop-style sounds. But they do sound more 'electronic' than real. I don't know if this was the artist's intention, but I think they remove a part of the atmosphere that could have been much better using real raindrops instead of computer-rendered ones.

They tend to sound uncrisp at times and overload the sound.

Melodies are not that frequently present... Quite a pity... The opening and ending pad are nice though.

There are some faded background voices to be heard, but it's very difficult to hear what they're saying.

production-wise

Effects are not that well recorded, although they're pretty neat. I think the first part of the track must be the best part, the second part nearing the end is quite a mix-up of effects and another heap of metallic raindrops.

Sometimes the sound tends to overload, even with the tiny raindrop-style effects, but mostly when the track makes use of a crash of some kind, it's clearly noticeable.

overall feel

While there are lots of better tracks to be heard in this genre, I think this is a fair and fresh approach to the genre. Atmosphere has been given to the track, which can't be missed out on in an ambient track. Yet, I'm not really convinced about everything...
