The
British Embassy in Sarajevo, with the Embassy branch office in Banja
Luka, represents the United Kingdom in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
There are thirteen UK-based members of staff and twenty-five
locally engaged staff. The
Ambassador since October 2001 is Ian Cliff.
The
primary purpose of the Embassy is to ensure that the British Government
priorities are understood and acted upon by the State and Entity
Governments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as by international
organisations working to implement the Dayton Peace Agreement.
The
Embassy also works to provide British trade and investment links
between Britain and Bosnia and Herzegovina, supports British technical
assistance activities, and is responsible for entry clearance for
those wishing to visit the United Kingdom, as well as the consular
protection of British citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
