The British Embassy in Sarajevo, with the Embassy branch office in Banja Luka, represents the United Kingdom in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  There are thirteen UK-based members of staff and twenty-five locally engaged staff.  The Ambassador since October 2001 is Ian Cliff.

The primary purpose of the Embassy is to ensure that the British Government priorities are understood and acted upon by the State and Entity Governments of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as by international organisations working to implement the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The Embassy also works to provide British trade and investment links between Britain and Bosnia and Herzegovina, supports British technical assistance activities, and is responsible for entry clearance for those wishing to visit the United Kingdom, as well as the consular protection of British citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
