Character: Matthew Hancock
Actor: Stephen Hunt
Not quite grown up
As the eldest in the family Matt saw himself as playing a very adult role in their household. He was keen to take on all the attributes of adulthood, but not so ready to accept all the responsibilities.
His parents were keen for Matthew to start university, but he was in no hurry. He was a good looking young man, and liked the attention of the girls. He was close to Felicity Scully for a time, and there was another girl, a Chinese lass, Laura Wallace. She was some kind of exotic dancer if I recall. At first he was shocked by her profession, but in the end she had him doing Elvis impersonations on stage.
Sadly all this larking about would have dire consequences for Matthew and his family. He was the cause of a car accident while racing some other hoon on the streets around here. Matthew only narrowly escaped a prison sentence, but the fine and the legal fees bankrupted his family. I’m sure the whole experience matured him greatly.
