First things first...
Yes, my name really is David Bowie. No, i'm not that David Bowie. If you're looking for information on the rather more famous person with the same name, i'd advise trying some other web page.
And now what you're really here for...
David Bowie's Homepage
If you're here to learn about me rather than just to look through my lists of links, you can try this a short bio of me.
Next, i have a few passions in my life. These include Jeanne (and the rest of our family), God (and by extension, religion), music, and language--and, of course, there's always assorted other stuff that i find interesting. I more or less have (or soon will have) pages that deal with each of these subjects, which you can get to via the following list of links.
- Jeanne and Sadra Marie
I haven't set up a page specifically dealing with Jeanne (i may get a bit overly sappy at times, but i'm not that sappy!), and she's not on the web at the moment. If she ever sets up a homepage for herself, though, i'll set up a link to it; for the moment what this links to is a picture of Jeanne and me from a few years ago. No pictures of Sadra Marie yet, but there'll be some eventually.
- God and Religion
This will take you to my collection of religious links, which are almost entirely links dealing with Mormonism and closely related religions. If you like, you can take an intermediate stop at an overview of my religious life as a Mormon before going on to my more general page of religious links.
Regarding music, i'm a fan of several kinds of music, particularly progressive rock (using the term in its early 70s, not its early 90s, meaning). This will take you to a relatively sparse page holding mainly links to the homepages for a few bands i like.
As for language, that's enough of a passion of mine that i'm even doing graduate work in it--in sociolinguistics, to be specific; my primary interests are language and dialect contact, language and ethnicity, and Pennsylvania German. This will take you to my "professional" homepage, which includes links to a couple papers i've written on the languages of the Pennsylvania Germans.
- Other Stuff
In my time on the 'net i've accumulated stuff that doesn't even come close to fitting into the above categories, some of it thoroughly bizarre and worth checking out just for the sake of amusement. I'm placing them in their own place--and if i ever get around to it a link to it will be right here. For the moment, though, this will take you to the most useful one (the instant weather forecast), this will take you to one of the most fun jokes out there, and this will take you to a page of personal importance--the homepage for my sister Heather and her husband.
Who cares how many people have visited this site?
So why do i do this? Why do i maintain this set of pages on the web? Several people have asked me this, and so to answer you all i've invited (well, okay, scrounged up) guest voice Vlada to explain why. Feel free to click on the little speaker icon below to hear Vlada himself tell you in his own inimitable style exactly why i do this.

If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination. Once begun on this downward path, you never know where to stop. Many a man has dated his ruin from some murder or other that perhaps he though little of at the time.
Thomas de Quincey, "Murder as One of the Fine Arts"
For everything else, you might as well check out my web awards page.
