I have recently compiled a surname index to 'Lost Graves' (see below). In addition, 22% of the persons listed have a birthplace identified, representing 28 different countries, and a birthplace cross reference table is included below. It is hoped this index will assist those persons undertaking historical and genealogical research related to the Yukon.
The document "Lost Graves' is held at the Yukon Archives where reference assistance and photocopying services are available for full text information. Copies of 'Lost Graves' are available for sale from the City of Whitehorse. Direct inquires to the City Clerk.
This index was generated from the newspaper holdings of the Yukon Archives, Whitehorse. The early Yukon News holdings are incomplete and an index to missing issues is available at the Yukon Archives. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the transcription but inevitably some errors may exist. This index is not a substitute for researching primary sources. Please contact the Yukon Archives for reference assistance to the primary sources.
Criteria For Inclusion: Many obituary entries provide little detail about the individual but were included if minimal information such as death date and age at death or death date and place of death was provided. Funeral Notice entries were not included unless the aforementioned information was provided. In Memory entries are not included.
Maiden Names & Aliases: All maiden names, other married names and aliases are included as separate listings. In addition, maiden names are given in parentheses.
Age At Death: Any ages of less that one year are indicated by “0”.
