This year's tournament in Portugal is the 12th European Championship and England are still looking for an elusive first win.
The last forty years of European Championship football have thrown up some of the greatest matches in history - who can forget France's amazing 3-2 win over Portugal in 1984 or England's heroic failure against eventual winners Germany twelve years later.
The Championship has also managed to throw up some of football's biggest surprises, such as Denmark's sensational success in Sweden in 1992 or the Czechs' defeat of champions Germany back in 1974.
