1. Robert William Robson was born on 18 February 1933 in Sacriston, County Durham.

2. A young Sir Bobby went on to play inside forward for Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, and became player/coach for the Vancouver Royals in Canada. His first managerial position.

3. As an International, Sir Bobby earned 20 England Caps and scored four goals. He also played for England in the 1958 World Cup.

4. Robson's Ipswich side qualified for Europe nine times in ten seasons, while the team that won the FA Cup in 1978 had only three players who were not from the youth policy.

5. Sir Bobby has managed the following - Fulham, Ipswich, England, PSV Eindhoven, Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona and Newcastle United.

6. Sir Bobby has won a fine haul of trophies during his career; Ipswich: FA Cup and UEFA Cup, PSV Eindhoven: Won the Dutch league twice. Barcelona: European Cup winners cup.

7. He guided England to the World Cup semi-final in Italy, 1990. It was their biggest achievement since Alf Ramsey won the cup in 1966.

8. Robson has managed some of the greatest footballers in the world, such as Hristo Stoichkov, and the Brazilians Romario and Ronaldo. And of course, there is Alan Shearer!

9. Newcastle first tried to get Sir Bobby as manager after Keegan had resigned in 1997, but Sir Bobby honoured his contract with Barcelona and Newcastle settled for Dalglish instead.

10. Sir Bobby Robson's first home game in charge of Newcastle United saw them crush Sheffield Wednesday 8-0 on 19th September, 1999. Alan Shearer scored five, and Aaron Hughes, Kieron Dyer and Gary Speed grabbed the others. It is a record home victory for Newcastle in the Premiership.
