Roger L. Simon is hosting a book signing and wine tasting party this Wednesday evening at the wonderful Dutton’s Bookstore in Brentwood. Click the link for full details; here’s your chance to get a signed copy of Roger’s new Moses Wine book, and meet some of the luminaries of the blogosphere at the same time. A good time will be had.

Sounds like it would be an enjoyable event. Granted I don't drink, but I love good cheese and there is generally around any wine tasting event. Also would be enjoyable to meet many of the figures in the blogsphere. Too bad I am spending the summer in Indiana. Something like this would almost make the 20 hour drive from Oregon worth the trouble.
Can't make it. ::::sigh:::: I have a prior commitment right at the same time (7pm). I'd love to meet zulubaby, mommydoc and, especially, our illustrious Lizardoid Cheiftain in person. Maybe next time. :-(
You know, I've always wondered how Rashi and Bartenura found time to run wine businesses while composing their mammoth commentaries. The only solution I can come up is that they both got very, very little sleep.
Well I'm glad they sacrificed some sleep. I really like the Bartenura (product of Italy) Moscato D'asti. It's more like a wine cooler than a wine, but I manage to put down a bottle every Shabbos.
Lately I'm taking a drinking lead from the Rebbe (who also did not sleep much). I've taken quite a liking to a liqueur called Benedictine. Ok, I admit it, it's made in France.

If you haven't already done so, try Drambuie. I read somewhere that it's the only alcoholic beverage that's made from another alcoholic beverage that's good to drink. Scotch. Tastes nothing like Scotch.
Nice after dinner sipper.
Does he plan anything like this in NYC, and will the bloggers who show up be willing to talk to ordinary schmucks like me who don't have a blog, but just an ordinary everyday job?
Teal Lake is a kosher winery that has a nice Shiraz.
I wish I could be there too. You will alll have to post lots of dish here and tell the rest of us what Charles is like. (If he's smart he'll cut off his hair and then he can wander around incognito.)
I replaced Sauternes with Hungarian Tokaji ( 5 or 6 puttonyos - level of sweetness, 6 being most sweet). I can get 6 for about $50 per bottle in NJ.
Give it a try.
This past Christmas and New Years I replaced my normal gift-giving of Champagne with Schramsberg sparkling white methode champenoise. Pretty good really but I'm up for other suggestions.
Ready to stop with Canadian Beer for American? Of course now there are so many craft brewed American beers, you don't have to go import. But if you want "premium" look for Highfalls Brewery (carries now the Genessee line plus Michael Sheas, Dundee). It may be the only premium American brewery that actually still uses all barely malt in the brewing -- no rice or "other fine grains".
I think you should leave it up to the parent, because not all parents want to keep their children totally ignorant. -- Frank Zappa in response to a question from Senator Hollings.
