Game Ideas/SQUARE ENIX Jobs
What classes do I have to take in order to make games for you guys?
We suggest that if you are interested in game design and programming, it is very important that you stay in school. Having a college degree will not only give you an advantage over other potential employees, it will also help build a strong foundation of your work habits and possibly your game development skills.

Acquiring a job in video game development could take a good deal of preparation and experience. Depending on the type of field you are interested in, many game developers have backgrounds in different subjects, whether it is in Computer Science, Mathematics, Art, Music etc. We highly recommend that you speak with a college career guidance counselor. He or she would be able to provide you with information regarding the types of classes associated with video game development that should be of interest and value to you. They can also inform you about several video game colleges that you can enroll in throughout the U.S. However, a degree or certificate from a specialty or vocational school is not required. Many successful game developers have attended or have earned a degree from other sources of higher education. We do not have a preference as to which college or school a potential employee went to, since much of the job selection is based on education, previous experience and work performance.
I've got a great idea for a new game! Can you make it for me?
We always receive many interesting and creative game ideas from our fans. Unfortunately, we, and many other game companies, cannot use any game ideas that are received from the general public due to legal complications that can arise. That is why we have several complete development teams in Japan whose sole purpose is to create and produce video games.
Can I beta test your games from my home?
Our fans willingness and devotion to test our games for long hours a day flatter us! Unfortunately, due to security and legal issues plus the fact that all our testing is done in-house, we cannot accept any home-based beta testers. If you have an interest to beta test our games and are in the area of one of our offices, please check for job listings on our Employment page for Quality Assurance opportunities.
Can I get permission to use your images, text, or music from your games for the website/novel/song I'm creating?
Although we are extremely appreciative of our fans' efforts to incorporate the story and/or characters of our popular games to a project, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to grant any requests. We receive numerous requests regarding copyright use; our policy is to decline any use of our copyrights. We currently are not granting permission to anyone except our own business partners.

Merchandise/Catalog Information
Do you have a merchandise department where I can order your games online?
Yes! You can purchase just about every SQUARE ENIX title (going back to Parasite Eve) through our Online store at PlayOnline.com. Not only can you get your hands on our quality game titles, but you'll also find some other cool limited quantity merchandise like The Bouncer hooded sweatshirt and Final Fantasy IX wallscrolls.
Where can I find the Final Fantasy action figures that I keep hearing about?
Bandai distributed action figures for Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy IX but unfortunately they are no longer being produced or distributed and may be difficult to find. Action figures for Final Fantasy X (Kotobukiya) can be found in most large retail toy stores and specialty electronic stores where video games can be purchased.
Where can I find soundtracks to your games?
Unfortunately soundtracks are not currently available from our online store. However, you can order a lot of SQUARE ENIX soundtracks directly through the Tokyopop music store. Otherwise, searching for online music vendors via search engines such as Yahoo! or Google would be your best bet.
