'Big House' Gaines; won 828 games as basketball coach
Hall of Famer Clarence ''Big House" Gaines, who led the Winston-Salem State basketball team for almost a half-century and won more games than all but four other college coaches, died Monday after suffering a stroke over the weekend, a family member said. He was 81. (Boston Globe, 4/20/05)

Will Blackmon's spring conversion from cornerback to wide receiver seemed to pay dividends for Boston College's offense in yesterday's scrimmage at Alumni Stadium. The speedy 6-foot, 202-pound senior from Cranston, R.I., led all receivers with nine catches for 74 yards, hauling in touchdowns of 26 and 4 yards from sophomore quarterback Matt Ryan.
