1To the best of its knowledge, the DDAP Association is listing vendors who are capable of reading or writing what has come to be considered a universally acceptable TIFF/IT-P1 file set, utilizing TIFF/IT-CT/P1, TIFF/IT-LW/P1 and TIFF/IT-FP/P1(Continuous Tone, Line Work and Final Page) components. However, there are several other additional file types within the TIFF/IT standard (ISO 12639) including: HC (High resolution Contone), BP (Bitmap Picture), BL (Binary Lineart) and MP (Monochrome Picture). These file types have specific uses and may be generated by systems either you or your file suppliers are using. If a file supplier creates a file type that the receiver's system is not capable of interpreting, the file exchange will fail.

The DDAP Association strongly recommends that test should be run to ensure workflow compatability before sending or receiving a new TIFF/IT file set.

2DDAP TIFF/IT-P1 Checker verifies conformance to the TIFF/IT-P1 standard.

3This data was provided by Global Graphics, originators of the Harlequin RIP. The RIP is built into a large number of products available through Global Graphics' OEM partners, each of which is sold under different names. The availability of specific RIP versions is set by those OEMs. Literature for specific products built around the Harlequin RIP may be obtained from the relevant OEM partner.
