Lyme Disease Diagnosis and Treatment
This law protects physicians prescribing antibiotics to Lyme disease sufferers from unwarranted disciplinary action.  Notably, this law protects physicians’ ability to prescribe long-term antibiotic therapy.

Chapters 5-37.5-5, 27-18-62, 27-19-53, 27-20-48, 27-41-65 Signed into law 07/07/03
This law requires every insurer (individual or group hospital or medical expense insurance policy, individual or group hospital or medical services plan) with a contract in Rhode Island to cover any prescribed Lyme disease treatment.  This law expires on December 31, 2004.
