ITALIAN GREYHOUND SWEATER PATTERN*SUPPLIES:
2 - 4 oz (or 1 - 8 oz) Worsted Weight - 4 ply skein of yarn.
1 - number 6 - 16" round knitting needle (or needles that give you 5 stiches =an inch and 6 rows = an inch)
NECK: on round needle cast on 60 (50 for smaller IG) stitches. Knit/purl in circular pattern for 50 rows (more if you want a longer neck / less if you want it shorter)
LEGS: mark off 8 / 4 / 8 / 40 (4 / 2 / 4 / 40) stitches. Knit/purl increasing each side of marker every 3rd row until 32 / 28 / 32 / 64 (28 / 26 / 28 / 64) Cast off the 32s (28s). This is the front leg opening. (I use to put these on a holder and knit them for 20 rows after I finished the body of the sweater)
CHEST : Leave markers between the 28 (26) and 64 stitches. Continue to knit/purl for 20 rows. Half way between the markers for the 28 (26) stitches knit 2 stitches together and stop knitting in circles. Knit/purl back and forth knitting 2 stitches together at the end of each row.
BACK CURVE: After 5 more rows put a marker halfway between the 64 stitches and knit 2 stitches together before the marker and knit 1 stitch after the marker, continue the knit/purl pattern to the end of the row. (be sure to knit 2 stitches together at the end of the row). On the inside purl 2 stitches together before and purl 1 stitch after the marker then continue the knit/purl pattern (be sure to knit 2 stitches together at the end of the row). Repeat this until there are only 4 to 6 stitches left on the needle. Cast off and finish by weaving ends of yarn into sweater
This pattern fits an IG that is has a 17-19 1/2 (14-16 1/2) inch chest and 14 - 15 (13 - 14) inch length
