14. Aaron Lewis ETHINGTON

HUSBAND'S AGE AT MARR: 30
Aaron Lewis and his wife Susan Adams had been married just a few months when
the 1860 census was taken. In that census, an 8 yr old girl named Lucy
Ethington was living with them. Her relationship is not know. See Henry Co Ky
1860 census, page 347 dw 767.

From JWE of Seattle 7 Oct 1954:
"Graves of Aaron and Susan are in County Cemetery near where they lived on 6
Mile Creek in Henry Co Ky. I remember Uncle Aaron well. He was the kindest of
men. He wore a full beard and looked precisely like the poet Longfellow. They
had 5 children, three grew up."

Per Karen Klingler, Aaron Lewis received his father's family bible.
He gave it
to his son, William, who gave it to his son George Jesse. George Jesse gave
it to his son James Eldon, of Tulsa OK (1992).

is 7 Mar 1860. This date is found in the James Ethington Family Bible.

Aaron was adm. for his father's estate.

Marriage date given by grandson George Jesse Ethington-237 is 7 Mar 1860.

Henry co cemeteries grave # 14950 Birth: 19 Jan 1830. No death date.

64. Lucy ETHINGTON

CENSUS: 1860 HENRY CO KY PAGE 347 DW 767.

Note that Lucy is 8 years old in 1860 (see census). Since Aaron and Susan were
married in 1860, and since Susan was about 30 years old at that time, it seems
likely that Lucy is Susan's daughter by a former marriage. That she was called
"Lucy Ethington" by the census taker could have been an assumption on his
part, or, Lucy had taken on her new step-father's name shortly after her
mother's marriage to him.

Need to find first marriage for Susan.

Note that the James Ethington Family Bible does not list Lucy as a daughter
of Aaron Lewis and Susan Adams. This is further proof that (1) either Lucy had
died before the bible entry was made, or (2) that she was daughter only to
Susan.

Kentucky mortality sched page 555 shows a Lucy R. Ethington dying in Henry
county 2/15/1934. Her parents are not given. See rin

66. Jim (twin) ETHINGTON

SOURCE: BETTY ANN BOWLES. JIM WAS A TWIN BROTHER TO WILLIAM.
Jim is not listed as a child of Aaron Lewis and Susan in the family bible.
Probable that the bible entry was made after his death.

In the 1870 Henry Co Ky census page 97 dw 730, William Ethington, son of Aaron
Ethington is listed as being a twin. Since no other child of the same age
appears, it must be concluded that the other twin died, unnamed.
This entry
will account for that twin who died as a child. Note: Later identified by
Betty Ann Bowles as Jim Ethington.
