Memoirs: Christine and Neil Hamilton

She is admired for her determination and fought an extraordinary campaign to protect her husband's reputation, cementing Christine Hamilton's position as the queen of British battleaxes.

The strength of the Hamilton's relationship in the face of adversity has been a hot topic for media commentators.

Christine famously stood by her husband as he struggled to clear his name after the 'Cash For Questions' scandal cost him the safe seat of Tatton in the 1997 general election.

The couple have never been far from controversy ever since.

They were held for questioning in 2001 after being wrongly accused of sexual abuse by Nadine Milroy-Sloan. They were arrested in a blaze of publicity but their solid alibis meant they were soon cleared. Milroy-Sloan was subsequently jailed.

But instead of withering and crumbling, the Hamiltons emerged the epitome of matrimonial triumph.

A TV documentary filmed by BBC presenter Louis Theroux at the time of the Milroy-Sloan affair portrayed the Hamiltons in a sympathetic, if somewhat eccentric light. They engaged the public's sympathy and made the most of their emerging media spotlight.

The couple went on to survive bankruptcy after Neil fought and lost a disastrous libel action against Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed.

Meanwhile, Christine was made a number of TV offers, the most memorable being her appearance in the reality TV series I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! She took on the mantle of the mother-hen on the show, revealing an attractive and gentler side to the nation.

Now, she is here to answer your questions and talk about her forthcoming memoir.

Christine lays bare a series of candid accounts of an exuberant love life, written with a candour that will shock many.
