Coupling is to have a new regular character next series, after star Richard Coyle quit.

Coyle, who plays Jeff, will be replaced by Oliver, introduced to the show as a blind date for Jane (Gina Bellman).

Welshman Richard Mylan, who will take the new role, told The Western Mail: "Oliver is terrible at dating. He is a bit of a geek magnet. I don't think that will help him with women."

"Coyle will be replaced by comic book store owner Oliver"

And, posting on the BBC America website, writer Steven Moffat added: "I'm having a whale of a time writing him. I miss Jeff, but it's invigorating to have a new wind blowing through the show."

Filming on the fourth series starts next year.
