Small Boulevard

((Kiskörút - Károly körút, Múzeum körút) - running alongside the ancient walls)

The walls of old Pest city were dismantled in the 19th century and - like in many other European cities - a boulevard was opened in their place. As the outer side was less built-up than the inner parts, there was sufficient space to raise some new and important public buildings there. The Small Boulevard is the home of the Budapest Synagogue, the Grand Market Hall and the Hungarian National Museum.
