It was always difficult for me to find a reliable source that would give me a date of birth for Ayatollah Khomeini.

Iran's Nuclear Ambitions: A Personal Plea to the Iranian Engineer.

alimostofi | 11 February, 2005 23:18

It is argued that Iran is a Western Buffer and an Eastern Bulwark.  We all know that the balance of power is more important than the power itself.  (More)

How to divide the theocracy in Iran by Condoleeza Rice

alimostofi | 03 February, 2005 23:05

After looking at her astrological horoscope it really is no surprise to hear such statements as "I don't think anybody thinks that the unelected mullahs who run that regime are a good thing for either the Iranian people or for the region,"  (More)

Iran's Nuclear Impasse: Straw reconciling the irreconcilable

alimostofi | 25 January, 2005 21:42

I cannot put together these two pieces of news.  Early on today I read UK's Foreign Ministry speaking on behalf of the United States stating, that US is 'committed to Iran diplomacy'.  I would like to see what Mr Cheney has to say.  Later on today (More)

US-Iran want to restore relations: Kiss of death?

alimostofi | 15 January, 2005 14:43

Nowadays we hear a lot whether the US should restore diplomatic relations, and there are discussions about the right course on Iran.  Ask any youth in Iran, and there are some 50 out of 70 million there, whether they would like to go to the US, and he would tell you that his dad would should be asked first.

Torture in Iran

alimostofi | 13 January, 2005 20:12

It is great to see the European Parliament voted strongly condemning the death sentences against and/or the execution of juvenile offenders, pregnant women and mentally handicapped persons. (More)

5000-Year-Old Industrial Center Found in Jiroft, Iran.

alimostofi | 11 January, 2005 19:45

It is so great to see how Iran is finally finding its roots predating most of the other historical sites in the world.  This Jiroft area of Iran exported industrial products to the world some 5000 years ago.

Iran bows to UN threat over nuclear programme

alimostofi | 23 November, 2004 00:35

I suppose the world is triumphant as the triumvirate of Britain, France, Germany, and their contacts inside the Islamic Republic have managed to balance the high wire.

Iran uranium suspension a 'step in right direction' - Is it a Mirage?

alimostofi | 22 November, 2004 10:15

It is great to see that certain groups of Iranians have agreed to comply.  It is wonderful to see that "In line with the agreement with the Europeans, the suspension is to start today," a report on state television said, although it was not clear at exactly what time this would be put into force.  But as said before, astrologically speaking there are divisions.  (More)

Last Gas , or Gasp?

alimostofi | 20 November, 2004 13:21

As Iranians, in Iran and abroad we have seen so much news about the Nuclear program in Iran.  The fascists in West and in Iran have been fighting each other.  They have totally mesmerised the democratic processes with their fearmongering.  It is called political violence.  Why?

Iran and Religious Freedom

alimostofi | 04 October, 2004 13:30

It is nice to see the US administration write about Iran and Religious Freedom, but can someone please mention the Zoroastrians, and those of us who have converted to Zoroastrianism. (More)

Iranian intellectuals pay tributes to Gandhi

alimostofi | 04 October, 2004 11:39

Today is Gandhi's anniversary, and it is very important that the people of Iran read and adopt the policy of non-violence.  Afterall we do share our common ancestory for at least 4000 years.  (More)

Iran Rejects Kerry Nuclear Proposal

alimostofi | 03 October, 2004 13:34

Well it did not take that long. The theocrats now reject Kerry's proposal.  The theocrats have other ideas, and they are using the pretext of uncertainties of deliveries to justify their need for independance.  The will even stop snap inspections.  (More)

Islamist Jannati's Nuclear Plan vs Kerry, UN, and EU.

alimostofi | 02 October, 2004 23:56

In trying to call the Islamists bluff, Senator Kerry made offer to supply nuclear fuel to them.  The EU liked that, and they feel that Bush should adopt Kerry's line.  But neither realise that die-hard Islamist Jannati is interested in developing the enriched fuel on their own, and I presume has grander ideas. (More)

Post-Debate Polls Favor Kerry - Mullah prefers the devil he knew.

alimostofi | 01 October, 2004 13:47

Suddenly the table turns.  Post-debate poll shows Kerry has the edge.  All it took was 90 minutes and everybody thinks differently.  Suddenly Bush does not look like the saviour of United States.  Long ago I stressed that the theocrats would come under a lot more pressure if we have a situation where the Republican seemed to be losing steam.

Everyone says the same thing. But their last sentences are different.

alimostofi | 30 September, 2004 15:29

Nice summary by Lee Sustar of Socialist Worker but it looks like everyone else's except for the last sentence. Behrooz Ghamari is hitting the US as well.

Soul Searching, and Is Iran the October Surprise?

alimostofi | 30 September, 2004 11:24

I couldn't have written it better.  Well said Gwynne Dyer.  The only thing I would add is that the Iranians are mostly young and in the long run the older more theocratic generation's view will vanish.  As it stands, there is a cultural vacuum in Iran, as the people are doing a lot of soul searching.  Below is an article I wrote on a student BB, in response to comment with regards to Mr AFK Yazdi.

Iran's new Shahab-3 missile.

alimostofi | 29 September, 2004 00:39

MENL says that the new Shahab-3 missile that the Islamists in Iran have created is a a throwback to U.S. and Soviet intercontinental ballistic missiles of the 1960s.  Meanwhile we get two divergent points of view.  The Pakistanis that are pro Theocrats, and the Israelis that are anti Theocrats.

National Strike will save Iran

alimostofi | 28 September, 2004 21:16

It is remarkably simple for the Theocrats to just carry on doing what they want.  An excellent summary is given by HonestReportingBasically the Theocrats want to make money selling enriched uranium, and they don't care if they get kicked out of NPT.  (More)

Pro-democracy demonstration in Iran

alimostofi | 27 September, 2004 23:13

It is really good to see that the news about the demonstration in Iran is finally getting around.  I think the way VOA reported it was best.  The BBC was totally cynical about it.  But Reuters were the first to report it amongst the world agencies.  The very first people to get the word out were SMCCDI where I spend a lot of my time.  All of this is happening as we get the quadruple conjunction of Mercury, Mars, Sun, and Jupiter making hard aspects to Uranus, Neptune, with the Full Moon just around the corner.  (More)
